    Dr. Amish Prasad is a general cardiologist who has been with Prime Cardiology since 2020. A brief list of his special interests include preventive cardiology, heart failure, coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, hypertension, elevated cholesterol, amyloidosis, and arrhythmias. He sees patients daily in the office and hospitals across the Las Vegas Valley. He is also actively involved with teaching, working regularly with medical students and resident physicians. He strongly believes that teaching not only helps foster new physicians that are needed in Nevada, but also advances the quality of patient care in Las Vegas.

    Dr. Prasad’s patients describe him as down to earth, practical, and approachable. He believes the patient is the most important member of the healthcare team. He enjoys taking time to individually tailor a plan of care with patients' direct involvement. He sits down to simplify and explain some of the more complex cardiac problems that patients may experience. Dr. Prasad prides himself on being readily and personally available for all of his patients. He focuses on seeing patients as a whole and following guideline directed and common sense practices.

    Given his background, he strongly believes in the marriage of technology and medicine. He embraces the latest technological advances, and tries to incorporate them as much as possible in clinical practice to help patients and improve their care. In the age of home monitoring, he makes sure that Prime Cardiology is using the latest devices to the patients’ advantage.

    Dr. Prasad is a self-professed “cardiology nerd" and spends his time away from work catching up on the latest cardiology advances. He is an avid sports fan, especially of all Detroit and Las Vegas teams, with an additional emphasis on being a Michigan Wolverines fanatic.

    He obtained his undergraduate degree in computer science at the University of Michigan, Masters in Basic Medical Sciences at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI and a Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine at Touro University Nevada. He then completed an Internal Medicine Residency at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, NV, and a Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, MI.

    Educated at some of the best schools in the world​

    He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at the University of Michigan before achieving his Master’s degree in Basic Medical Sciences from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He then went on to study here in Nevada at the Touro University and completed his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Prasad completed his internal medicine residency at Valley Hospital Medical Center in Las Vegas before moving on to his cardiology fellowship in Pontiac, Michigan at McLaren Oakland Hospital, where he was chief fellow.

    Experience/excellence

    Dr. Prasad began his medical career as an invasive cardiologist in Michigan. After returning to Nevada, he continued to practice and teach in Las Vegas before joining Prime Cardiology of Nevada. Dr. Prasad is a professional member of several medical associations, including the American College of Cardiology, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, American College of Osteopathic Internists, American Osteopathic Association and Nevada Osteopathic Medical Association.

    A commitment to Education

    Dr. Prasad additionally provides teaching services at several facilities throughout the valley. He has participated as a clinical preceptor for third- and fourth-year medical students at Touro University. He provides inpatient consult services with teaching rounds at the <a href="https://www.unlv.edu/medicine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">University of Nevada Las Vegas School of Medicine</a>. Lastly, he provides monthly cardiology lectures to fellows, residents and medical students at Valley Hospital in their Internal Medicine Residency Program.
